1st Ever NCAA Commitment in Jr. Flyers Girls History!

The Jr. Flyers Hockey Club is proud to announce that Kate Winstanley, starting goalie for the Girls 17U team, has officially committed to Norwich University for the fall of 2018.  Kate becomes the first ever NCAA commit in Jr. Flyers Girls history.  Kate began playing hockey at the age of 5 and has been playing on boys teams throughout her career.  In addition to the Jr. Flyers, Kate currently tends net for the North Penn HS Boys’ Varsity team.  Kate started playing Tier 1 girls hockey for the Quakers 12U team and has played Tier 1 on the girls side for over 7 years.  This is Kate’s 1st season with the Jr. Flyers.

Norwich Assistant Coach, Mollie Fitzpatrick: “We are very excited to have Kate join our program.  I was very impressed with her skill set and expect her to be an impact player right away.”

Jr. Flyers 17U Head Coach, Paul Caron: “Kate was a huge addition to the Jr. Flyers.  She came in this past April and made a difference right away.  Her work ethic and competitiveness in practice and games is unmatched.  Kate is a major factor in the success of the 17U team, and she has made her team and our program that much stronger.”

In only its second season of existence, the Jr. Flyers have already established themselves as the premier girls hockey program in the Atlantic District.  In addition to placing numerous players in the Atlantic District and USA Hockey Development programs this past summer, the Jr. Flyers 17U and 14U teams are both undefeated in MAWHA league play and sit in 1st place in the 19U and 14U divisions respectively.  Expect more announcements on future NCAA commitments in the coming weeks.
