Forward Matt Manning Gears Up for DIII Hockey

JRFlyers forward Matt Manning is heading for College Hockey next season.  The 5’7 ’96 birth year from Novi, Michigan has committed to Worcester State University in Massachusetts. Manning didn’t start the season with the JRFlyers but he was successful in his time here. Before coming to the JRFlyers he spent time with the Shreveport Mudbugs in the NAHL. With the JRFlyers, Manning finished the regular season with 16 goals and 23 assists giving him 39 points in 43 games. Worcester State University University is Division III skating in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC)

Despite not beginning the season with the JRFlyers he's had success and he shared his experience. “Everything has been great for me since I got here. The coaching staff has been great (Coach Domish/Kilcoyne) to me and really helpful. I learned a lot this year and this league (EHL) has helped me prepare for college. The EHL gets you ready for the fast pace that the college level will have. Our practices are up tempo along with our games and it has helped me a lot. It was a really good step for me to be here before heading off to Worcester.”

Worcester is the next stop for Manning’s hockey career and while attending he plans to major in Business. He also wants to contribute on his new team “I just want to work hard on being in the lineup as much as I can in my freshman year. I want to be a positive influence on my team.”

Even though this was Manning’s only season with the JRFlyers, he made new friends and wanted to thank everyone who has helped along the way. “I want to thank my parents, for always being there for me and for supporting me. The Coaching Staff (Domish / Kilcoyne) has always been supportive of me and have helped me with talking to schools. I also want to thank my teammates, I talked to them about my decision for schools and they were always willing to help me. They gave me positive feedback, and wished me the best. I can’t thank them enough for being there for me.”

Congratulations Matt as you finish a successful junior hockey career. Even though you only spent one season with the team, you’ve impacted those around you and became a team player. Thank you for your hard work and now as you move on to the next phase, you become a member of the JRFlyers family.
