WEST CHESTER, PA — The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers are pleased to announce Terry Carkner as the new head coach of the Girls 19U Team. Carkner, the Smith Falls, ONT native, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Girls program. Terry has previously coached men’s collegiate hockey, as well as Girls hockey at the 12U, 14U, and 16U levels.

We are very excited to have Terry assume the head coach position and we believe that he is going to be a phenomenal asset to the team and to the club”, said Jr Flyers President John Graves.

Prior to coaching, Terry was an NHL defenseman for 13 seasons, including five seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, as well as a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals as a Florida Panther during the 1995-96 season.

Carkner joins the 19U Staff of Tom Norton, Chris Baer, Allie Rothman, and Jenn DeJesus.  “Any time you can add someone with Terry’s passion for the game, you’re  moving the organization in the right direction. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do here”, said  Jr Flyers Girls GM Chris Baer.

The Jr Flyers 19U is a nationally-bound, Tier 1 USA Hockey Sanctioned team that participates in the Mid-Atlantic Women’s Hockey Association (MAWHA), as well as a New England Women’s Hockey League. The girls will also attend the top major girls tournaments in USA and Canada for the 2017-18 season.
