The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers fell to the Boston Jr. Ranges 3 – 0 this morning in game two of the Eastern Hockey League’s Showcase in Walpole, MA.

With 5:29 left in the first half and the puck inside the Jr. Flyers zone, a Jr. Flyers defenseman tried to bring the puck up along the near side boards but was stripped off it by the Jr. Rangers Jake Blackwell at the top of the faceoff circle.  Blackwell cut across the slot and beat Jr. Flyers goalie Sean Dynan long side to give the Jr. Rangers a 1 – 0 lead. It was Blackwell’s first goal on the season.

The Jr. Rangers would double their lead with 2:09 remaining in the first half. Jr. Rangers forward Connor Doherty picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and passed it up to teammate Nathan Young. As Young skated to the top of far side faceoff circle, he turned and passed the puck back to a trailing Doherty who took a one-timer that beat Dynan short side to make it a 2 – 0 game.

With 2:47 remaining in the regulation, the Jr. Rangers would make it a 3 – 0 game on a nice, tic-tac-toe play inside the Jr. Flyers zone. Connor Bizal brought the puck into the offensive zone and passed it to Blackwell on his left. Blackwell immediately sent a return pass to Bizal who sent a cross-ice pass over to Jonah Nash out front who snapped it past Dynan to close out the scoring.

Dynan stopped 35 of 38 shots while Billy Girard recorded the shutout for the Jr. Rangers. Click here for the box score.

The Jr. Flyers will play their first home game of the season on Saturday, October 5 at 8:00PM against the Connecticut Roughriders.
