The Jr. Flyers 15U has played some hard-fought hockey of late, playing many of the top 25 teams in the country. Despite their difficult competition to start their season, the Jr. Flyers 15U National team felt that they were improving, on and off the ice and their compete level was rising significantly. The team felt that their three-game series at Ice Line against Team Maryland would be a good barometer for them to see how far they had progressed.

Their gut feelings were correct because they went onto sweep Team Maryland in a three-game series by a combined score of 9 – 1, including two shutouts. The teams would play two games on Saturday, October 5 and the final game on Sunday, October 6.

The first game the Jr. Flyers won 1 – 0 when Walker Schwartz made a pass in the defensive zone to Christian Rapattoni who fed Hank Reed for the game winning goal  at 15:38 in the third period.

In game two, Team Maryland took a 1 – 0 lead at 11:15 into the first period. However, the 15U’s weren’t deterred and came back with a goal of their own at the 6:38 mark from Jake Moshang who was assisted by Keenan Schneider and Michael Cardarelli.

A minute later, Kennan Schneider and Greg Diamond set up Schwartz to give the Jr. Flyers a 2 – 1 lead.

Moshang would close out the scoring with his second goal of the game at 14:34 in the third with assists from Kenny Duffield and Grant Hineman.

The next day on Sunday, October 6, the Jr. Flyers were looking for a sweep and would not be denied. The first goal would be the eventual game winner which came at 11:46 in the opening period when Christian Rapattoni hit the back of the net at 11:46 into the first period with assists from Shane Edwards and Schneider.
