The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers are pleased to announce the organization’s Players of the Week for week ending November 10, 2019. The Players of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2019-20 regular season that recognizes top performing players for the Peewee, Bantam and Midget levels. Only players that are recommended by their respective teams are considered for the Players of the Week award.

Pee Wee Major Player of the Week – Hunter Haas (LW), Nick La Buono (C), TenZee Z'Ningray (RW)
The 2007 Philadelphia Jr. Flyers came into the weekend with two big AYHL games on the schedule.  The first game was against the New York Saints who sit a position ahead of the Jr. Flyers in the standings, and Sunday brought the challenge of Team Maryland who came into the game undefeated in the league.  The Jr. Flyers came away with an important 4-3 victory over the Saints and stood strong throughout a hard fought 8-6 loss to Team Maryland.  Coach Joe Moran learned a lot about his team this weekend, and his forward line, and Players of the Week, Hunter Haas (LW), Nick La Buono (C), TenZee Z'Ningray (RW).

"I put this line together a couple of weeks ago hoping to spark our offense" recalls Coach Moran. "I could see them in each game begin to gel, and they continued to come together in our important win over the Saints.  Hunter, Nick and TenZee hit the ice with a lot of speed, won puck battles, blocked several shots, and Nick even put in a very important goal for us early in the game.  Something was brewing in the them, I could feel it."  After the big win over the Saints, the Jr. Flyers traveled to play a strong Team Maryland squad, and Coach Moran's intuition about this line came to bear.  "The line just exploded offensively.  Right out of the gate, on their fist shift, Nick deposits 2 goals to give us the early lead.  Nick, and his line, put Team Maryland on notice that we came to play today, and we are not backing down."  And to prove that point, Hunter and TenZee got in on the scoring beginning in the 2nd Period.  "Hunter's 3 goals/1 assist was the result of tenacious puck pressure and really smart decision-making in the offensive zone.  Add to that TenZee grabbing a goal and an assist by blazing paths with his speed, and on-point passing.  Shift after shift the boys were relentless in creating scoring opportunities.  They just kept coming after Team Maryland with waves of offensive and defensive zone pressure throughout the entire game."  Coach Moran concluded, "In my mind, Hunter, Nick and TenZee lifted themselves to another level today, and I will be challenging them to consistently achieve that higher standard in both our practices and our games moving forward."

Pee Wee Minor Player of the Week – JD Frick, Forward
JD had a total of six points (4 goals and 2 assists) in Saturday’s 9 – 3 win over the New Jersey Titans. The 2008's also had a great game against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights on Sunday, November 10 and came from behind to tie with a final score of 3-3.  Good team effort from all players.
