Evan Green scored two power play goals to lead Team Maryland to a 4 – 0 win over the Jr. Flyers in Eastern Hockey League action last night at Ice Line.

With 7:04 into the opening period, Adam Nilsson was called for kneeing to give Team Maryland the man advantage. A minute later Green scored his first goal of the game. Anton Martino picked up the loose puck along the far side boards and went to clear the puck, but it was intercepted by Green back at the point. Green passed the puck up slightly to Tristan Mock who immediately sent a return pass to Green. Green took a shot that founds it way through a screen that beat Jr. Flyers goalie Sean Dynan to make it a 1 – 0 game.

John McCuen was called for tripping with 5:31 left in the second period to put Team Maryland on the power play. Maryland’s Denys Arkhypenko took and in-close shot that Dynan made a nice save on, but the puck went into the near side corner where Arkhypenko picked up his own rebound. Arkhypenko sent the puck back to the point to Bobby Geier who passed it over to Green on his left and Green one-timed it past Dynan to make it a 2 – 0 game.

After Nilsson took a shot that went wide of the net, the puck was picked up by Team Maryland’s John MacDonald along the far side boards. MacDonald carried the puck through center ice and into the Jr. Flyers zone. MacDonald sent a cross-ice pass that was redirected by Jackson Dobek past Dynan to give Team Maryland a 3 – 0 lead.

Team Maryland would close out the scoring on a beautiful redirected shot by Mock past Dynan to make it a 4 – 0 game.

Dynan stopped 30 of 34 shots while Team Maryland’s Zach Richards turned aside all 28 shots he faced for his second shutout on the season. Click here for the box score.
