19U player to continue her academic and hockey career at HWS

The Philadelphia Jr Flyers are proud to announce the acceptance of 19U TI player, Eva Hamel, to Hobart and William Smith College (NCAA D-III), where she will continue her hockey career.  HWS is a private liberal arts college, located in small-town Geneva, NY. The William Smith Herons compete in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC).

Hamel is in her 5th season with the Jr Flyers Girls, making her one of the longest-tenured players in the program.  During her time with the Jr Flyers, Hamel has shown passion for the game and a willingness to compete hard with, and for, her teammates.

Prior to joining the Jr Flyers, Hamel skated out of Wissahickon Skating Club in Chestnut Hill, PA. At WSC, she regularly attended power skating classes with current Jr Flyers Girls GM, Chris Baer.  “Eva has always been a great skater – I remember her skating circles around the boys from a young age…sometimes literally” said Baer.  “Eva was always excited to be around the rink, always had a smile on her face, and was always the first player in line for drills”.

The 5’2”, 135-lbs speedster lives in Plymouth Meeting and is a senior at Springside-Chestnut Hill, where she plays Varsity coed ice hockey.  Traditionally a defenseman, Hamel has shown her versatility by contributing at both forward and defense for this years’ 19U team.

Congrats and good luck to Eva!  William Smith Herons – Class of ’24.
