Jonathan Gabriel scored three of the four shootout goals to give the visiting Jr. Flyers a 2 – 1 win over the Revolution in an afternoon matinee.

Co-Captain Billy McDevitt opened the scoring for the Jr. Flyers at the 4:03 mark of the first period. After the Jr. Flyers dumped the puck into the Revolution zone, it was picked up by the Rev’s Tiger Bjornlund but he was in constant pursuit by McDevitt. Bjornlund dumped the puck into the far side corner where a scrum occurred with Levi Wright and McDevitt. As Wright moved from the corner to the faceoff circle, he was buried by Gabriel and McDevitt picked up the loose puck and shot it through the five hole of Revolution’s goalie Anthony Shrum to give the Jr. Flyers a 1 – 0 lead. It was McDevitt’s team high nineteenth goal of the season.

At 4:48 of the second period the Revolution evened the score on Ryan Clear’s second goal of the season. With the puck in the Jr. Flyers far side corner, the biscuit was sent behind the net where it was gloved down by the Revolution’s Jordan Sgro. Sgro sent it out front who buried a snapshot past Jr. Flyers goalie Aron Hansson to make it 1 – 1.

After a scoreless third period and overtime, the game went into the skills session.

Robert Batton, who scored the Jr. Flyers game winner in Sunday’s overtime victory against the Connecticut Roughriders, scored first. The Rev’s Saava Smirnov made it 1 – 1. The Rev’s Trevor Clemson scored to make it 2 – 1. Gabriel scored his first goal of the shootout to make it 2 – 2. Gabriel scored his second shootout goal to make it 3 – 2 Jr. Flyers but Bryan Garry tied it right away. Gabriel scored his third goal of the shootout and Hansson stopped Smirnov to seal the season straight victory for the Jr. Flyers.

Hansson stopped 41 of 42 shots while Shrum turned aside 38 of 39 shots. Click here for the box score.
