Batten’s hat trick propels EHL Jr. Flyers to upset series win and onto next playoff round

Robert Batten’s hat trick propelled the sixth seed EHL Jr. Flyers to a 6 – 4 win over the third seed Connecticut Roughriders to advance the Jr. Flyers onto the next round of the Eastern Hockey League’s playoffs.

Co-captain Billy McDevitt added a pair of goals and Adam Nilsson scored another. Jonathan Gabriel had three points (all assists) while Joe Platt had two points (both assists). Aron Hansson stopped 42 of 46 shots.

The Jr. Flyers dropped game one of the best-of-three game series 6 -2 on Saturday but won game two convincingly 6 – 1 yesterday to tie the series and set up today’s deciding game.

The Jr. Flyers move onto round two to face the Mid-Atlantic Conference’s top seed New Jersey ‘87’s. Times and dates will be announced later.
