The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers Junior team, proud members of the Eastern Hockey League, is pleased to announce that forward John McCuen has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the Bryn Athyn College Lions who are currently an independent team. His commitment begins in September 2020.

McCuen, who played his 16U and 18U seasons with the Jr. Flyers Youth Program, played two seasons the junior team. The Broomall, PA native had 60 points (26 goals and 34 assists) in 90 games. This past season McCuen, 20, had 35 points (13 goals and 22 assists) in 46 games.

“I am very proud to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Bryn Athen College” stated McCuen. “I would like to thank my parents for their time and continuous support through my career. I also would like to thank my sisters for their support. To my teammates and friends, thank you for your support of the years.”

“I would like to thank the Jr. Flyers organization and coach Jerry Domish for their guidance. I was fortunate enough to play for the Jr. Flyers 16U, 18U and junior seasons. I also would like to thank Coach Burke for giving me the opportunity to play college. I look forward to the next chapter of my academic and athletic careers” concluded McCuen.

“It’s great to see John get his commitment since he is a local player with a long history of playing with the Jr Flyers” stated Jr. Flyers general manager and head coach Jerry Domish. “He actually had more success at the junior level then at youth. He put up 25 points his first year and 35 last season. He is a very good player who plays all 200 feet of the ice well and will be very successful in college. More importantly he is a great kid who does his job daily and always puts the team first. I wish him the best in his future” concluded Domish.
