West Chester, PA – The Philadelphia JR Flyers are excited to announce the commitment of long-time JR Flyer, Rachel Martin, to SUNY Plattsburgh. The Cardinals are a perennial national powerhouse in Women’s D-III Hockey, with 7 NCAA National Championships, including 5 of the last 6 titles.  Plattsburgh was the #1 ranked team and had a 26-1 record heading into the 2020 National Tournament, which was cancelled due to COVID.

Martin is in her 5th season with the Jr Flyers and is currently an Alternate Captain for the 19U T1 team.  She is a powerful skater with a heavy shot and excellent release, which make her a natural goal scorer. Martin plays a hard, physical game and wins her battles.

JR Flyers Coach/GM, Chris Baer, said “Her leadership and work-ethic make her a great addition to any program… her compete-level, especially beneath the dots and around the net, make her a great fit for the style of play at Plattsburgh. Adding players like Rachel is how you stay a national contender at the collegiate level.”

On her decision, Martin said “I chose Plattsburgh because of the atmosphere around campus, along with the coaches and players made it feel like home. I want to thank all my coaches through the years for all their help…I couldn’t have done it without them. I also want to thank all my friends and family for being so supportive.”

Congrats, Rachel!  SUNY Plattsburgh Class of 2025.
