JRFlyers on 5 Game Win Streak But Big Test Lies Ahead

Last weekend the JRFlyers hosted the Valley Jr. Warriors. After a big weekend against the Rangers with an Overtime win, the JRFlyers were looking to keep on winning.

In the 1st period the JRFlyers got on the board when Carsello perfectly fed Rais in front and he snapped a shot by (G) Paci for the 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later it was Tommy Aughey sending a rebound into the net for the 2-0 lead. In the 2nd period the Warriors got on the board with a power play goal to cut the lead 2-1. The JRFlyers posted their own power play goal as Cohn hit an open Bayley Kubara and he cashed in with the goal to make it 3-1. More penalties piled up and the Warriors took advantage gaining another power play goal cutting the lead 3-2. That was the closest the Warriors would get as Carsello, Wood, and Rais put the JRFlyers up 6-2 to end the 2nd period. In the 3rd period Dougherty, and Bianchi added to the lead. When the final horn sounded, the JRFlyers won 8-4, and Collela picked up the win in net.

The win over the Warriors put the JRFlyers on a five game win streak and they are one of the top teams in the Southern Conference with a 6-0-1 record. The team they are tied with is the New Jersey 87s put they’ve played an extra game 6-1-1.

“We are just following what the coaches are saying, we are listening to the systems and it’s producing for us. We have to take it one game at a time, and right now our main focus is on Vermont this Saturday.” Tommy Aughey

In league news, JRFlyers defenseman Bayley Kubara was awarded Star of the Week for the Premier Division. Kubara had four points against the Warriors on Saturday (1G 3A).  “It’s a big honor and it’s cool to be recognized for your work and with other top players in the league.  The season has been good so far, I'm skating with both teams and learning a lot. I’m hoping to get the call up and keep on progressing.”

The JRFlyers head to Brewster, New York for the Showcase with three games over the weekend. Saturday they take on the Vermont Lumberjacks (8-0), Sunday they rematch with the Warriors (3-7) and the JRFlyers round out the showcase against the New England Wolves (3-5). The JRFlyers early season success has the team feeling good. There’s a big six points ahead and the team has confidence that the success will continue.
