JRFlyers Make Easy Work of the Panthers

Last weekend the JRFlyers played a home and home series against the Central Penn Panthers. In previous meetings the JRFlyers had no trouble scoring and came away victorious.

It was the Panthers who started the scoring off in this one as a man open back door was able to beat (G) Rickenbaker for the 1-0 lead. The JRFlyers would respond as Wood centered a beautiful pass in front to Meisinger who buried the shot past (G) Baldacci to tie the game 1-1. A few minutes later, Carsello went top shelf with a nice setup from Aughey to give the JRFlyers the lead 2-1. In the 2nd period is when the JRFlyers started to run away with the game as they fired seven goals to the back of the net (Sucher, Wood, Ionin, Aughey, Bianchi, Washkalavitch, and Pacitti) and ended the period with a 9-2 lead. The Panthers would net two more goal in the 3rd period, but Dougherty had the final tally for the JRFlyers as they cruised to a 10-4 victory.

The JRFlyers put this game out of reach from the get go. After the 1st period, Wood, Dougherty Meisinger-2, Sucher, and Johnson fired pucks to the back of the net giving the JRFlyers a 6-1 lead. When the final horn sounded the JRFlyers had notched an incredible 13 goals and forward Ben Meisinger ended the game with 8 total points (3G – 5A). The JRFlyers won the game 13-4 as Collela picked up the win in net.

It’s getting close to the midway point of the season and the JRFlyers are soaring above the competition with an 18-1-2 record for a league best 38 points.

“It’s been exciting so far for this team. We’ve gone on a few good runs and winning streaks, and had a little hiccup but we got back on track. I think we need to work on our defensive zone. We score a lot of goals, but we give up too much as well, so we want to sharpen up our d-zone as we move forward.” Aughey

“We’ve really come together since the start of training camp. We are playing well, and I think it’ll keep going after the break said Ben Meisinger. Meisinger also was awarded Star of the Week in the EHL Premier Division after an incredible nine-point weekend (4G – 5A) which improves his season total to 24 points (10G – 14A). “I was playing with Matt Wood and DJ Sucher and they kept giving me great scoring chances to work with and we were able to convert them. It’s an honor to be recognized by the league, and I can’t wait to see what the season holds for the rest of us.”

The JRFlyers are off this weekend for Thanksgiving break. They will return to action the following weekend against the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The JRFlyers met the Little Flyers twice so far, this season. The JRFlyers opened their season against the Little Flyers in a wild game but it was a 12-8 win for the JRFlyers. The second meeting was a week later and the JRFlyers again came away victorious this time with a score of 6-3.

On behalf of the staff, management, players and everyone else with the JRFlyers organization, we hope everyone travels safely, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
