Jr Flyers start JWHL Season 6-2-1

The Philadelphia Jr Flyers Girls began league play in the Junior Women's Hockey League (JWHL) this past weekend at Merrimack College, outside of Boston.  The 14UAAA and 16UAAA are new members of the JWHL for the 2018-19 season.

The 14U team went 3-1-1 on the weekend, with wins vs. NJ Colonials (1-0), Washington Pride (4-0), and Boston Shamrocks (2-0).  Their tie came vs. Newbridge Academy (2-2) and their loss came against a strong NAHA Prospects team (2-0).  The Jr Flyers boasted solid team defense all weekend en route to 3 shutouts by standout goaltender, Olivia Cimorelli.

The 16U team went 3-1 after dropping their season opener to NAHA Red (5-3) on Friday night.  They responded with blowout wins on Saturday and Sunday vs. Boston Shamrocks (12-2), Washington Pride (6-2), and NJ Colonials (8-0).  The Jr Flyers 16U team currently has 8 of the top 12 scorers in the JWHL, including league-leader Syd Bradley with 9pts (6g, 3a).

Congratulations to both teams on an impressive opening weekend!  JWHL action will resume November 2-4 at the HarborCenter in Buffalo, NY.   All games are live-streamed through www.jwhl.org
