Penalties Doom JRFlyers Offense

After the JRFlyers were dealt two losses by the New Hampshire Avalanche, they got back in the win column against the New England Wolves. Then it was finally time for a home game as the JRFlyers would host the rival, Philadelphia Little Flyers on Tuesday afternoon.

The JRFlyers got off to a hot start early in the game. Weinbrenner was tripped in the neutral zone but was able to play the puck forward. Kozachuk would get to the puck first and fire a pass on the tape to McDevitt who sent a wrist shot past (G) Brawley for the 1-0 lead. The JRFlyers got into penalty trouble with back to back minors and the Little Flyers would have a lengthy two man advantage. The JRFlyers would kill off the initial minor but the Little Flyers would capitalize on a backdoor opportunity to beat (G) Carpenter to even the game 1-1. The Little Flyers took the lead early in the 2nd period again scoring on the power play for the 2-1 lead. The JRFlyers were trying to answer back quickly an earned an offensive zone faceoff. The JRFlyers would win the draw back to the point but a bad bounce would hurt them as the puck hopped into the neutral zone. The Little Flyers would win the race and a breakaway goal made it a 3-1 game with back to back goals in less than two minutes. The Little Flyers would add another goal and took over the game with a 4-1 lead. The JRFlyers would be shorthanded again early in the 3rd and the Little Flyers would add their third power play goal of the game to extend their lead 5-1. Despite the final shots being 34-33 LF, the JRFlyers were unable to get on the board and would lose 5-1 in the end. Overall the JRFlyers were called for 10 penalties which stalled the offense throughout the game.
