16U Girls go 4-1 at Two Nations College Prep Series

The Jr Flyers 16UAAA team made some noise this past weekend, as fifty 16U/17U Tier 1 teams headed to the Toronto area to compete for the Two Nations Brampton title.   The JRF 16U started their tournament vs. a Kingston team that won the Two Nations Detroit tournament earlier this season.  Jr Flyers came away with a hard fought 2-1 victory.  They followed that up with a 4-3 win vs. North Halton and a 6-5 win vs. Markham, which earned them a 3-0 record and a #2 seed to wrap up pool play.

Of the 16 teams that made the playoff round, Jr Flyers were 1 of only 3 American teams remaining.  The girls ended up falling just short to a highly-skilled Burlington team in the playoffs by a score of 3-2.  The JRF rebounded for a victory vs. Gilmour Academy in their Sunday morning consolation game.

In the battle of Two Nations, Mississauga defeated the host team, Brampton, in the finals.  The Jr Flyers are familiar with both opponents, having tied Mississauga 3-3 and having lost 3-2 to Brampton at the Two Nations Detroit tournament in October.

Anytime you go north of the border, victories are hard to come by.  So congratulations to the 16UAAA team on bringing home 4 of them last weekend.

Next up: Shady Side Academy this weekend (Dec. 8), followed by a JWHL league weekend at Penn State University Dec. 14-16.
