    Girls 16AA win 1 – 0 to advance to National Semi-Finals

By Jr. Flyers Marketing 04/07/2019, 12:45pm EDT

The Jr. Flyers Girls 16AA defeated the Connecticut Northern Lights 1 – 0 this morning to advanced to the semi-finals at Nationals.

Katelyn Reid scored the lone goal - a power play goal - at 3:38 of the first period.

The semi-finals will be played later today at 5:15PM against the Vermont Shamrocks.

Forward Katelyn Reid scored just eighteen seconds into overtime to give the Jr. Flyers Girls 16U AA team a 2 – 1 win over the Florida Alliance. The victory gave them a 3 – 0 record and seven points in Pool Play at Nationals in Amherst, NY.

After a scoreless first period, the Alliance opened the scoring at 9:39 of the second period. It was a tight game throughout. Then with 2:46 remaining in the third, the Alliance were called tripping. Samantha Hughes would hit the back of the net with 1: 52 left in regulation to tie the game and send it into the extra period.

Reid ended the game quickly on a nice feed from Margot Oxman. Mattie Robitzer turned aside 10 of 11 shots in the win.

The 16U AA team is tentatively scheduled to play tomorrow at 10:15AM in the Nationals quarterfinals game.
