Read About Plumhoff's Time With JRFlyers And His Next Step

Justin Plumhoff is the second JRFlyer to release his commitment news. The JRFlyers Captain will play his college hockey at Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. Plumhoff will be joining his teammate Chris Caldwell who also committed there a couple weeks ago. Plumhoff is from Ashburn, Virginia and a 95 birth year. He started playing ice hockey when he was ten years old and played for the Ashburn Xtreme from ages 11-18. After that, the journey began with the JRFlyers. “My last year of playing 18’s I originally decided to go off to school and was ready to go to East Carolina. Then, Coach Domish talked to me at Nationals and asked me to come play for him. So, I decided to wait for college and play junior hockey for two years.” This is Plumhoff’s second season with the JRFlyers and he was elected captain for this season. “It’s been an awesome experience here with the JRFlyers. I love the team; it’s a great group of guys and a great coaching staff, and it was really an honor to be named captain this year.”  As he gets ready to take the next step, Plumhoff reflects on what advanced his game while being a JRFlyer. “I think the best thing is we get to skate every day. I didn’t get that back home in Virginia.  Here, I work out and skate everyday play games every day. The coaching staff has really helped me grow as a hockey player and as a person.” Plumhoff cherishes his time with the JRFlyers but is also excited to be taking the next step. “Fitchburg is a great university and I really like the coaching staff. I hope to go in there as a top six forward and work hard for the team. I want to improve my game, and get a good education as I'm doing that.”

It’s been an exciting ride for Plumhoff but of course he wants to give thanks to the people who helped him along the way. “I want to thank my family and friends, and all the players I've played with over the last two years. I also want to thank the coaching staff over the past two years. They all helped me get where I'm going to this year, and I'm excited to start my future at Fitchburg State University.”

Plumhoff again expressed that he was grateful for the opportunity to play here but Head Coach Jerry Domish is also happy for him. “Justin is a good kid, a good guy to be around, and he's well-liked by the team. He gets along with everybody, and doesn’t cause problems. I wish him the best as he moves on from us, and I’m glad he was part of our team. He has a lot to offer and I hope he has a great career at Fitchburg.”

Lastly, we say thanks to you Justin. You’ve worked hard for the past two seasons, and have sported JRFlyer colors with pride.  Best of luck as you continue your play to the college level and thank you for being a JRFlyer.
