Goaltender Sean Dynan stopped all 24 shots he faced and the EHL Jr. Flyers defeated the Valley Jr. Warriors 1 – 0 in the Eastern Hockey League’s first of two showcase games at Ice Line.

It was the Jr. Flyers third consecutive win.

Despite outshooting the Jr. Warriors 18 – 7 in the first half, the Jr. Flyers were unable to put the puck behind Jr. Warriors goaltender Tanner Rusnak. Then midway through the second half, the Jr. Flyers were able to break the scoreless game.

As the Jr. Flyers powerplay had just ended, defenseman Adam Hipp took a shot from the far side blueline that was deflected into the near side corner where it was picked up by Shane Ward. The Jr. Flyers Co-Captain took an off angle shot that was saved by Rusnak but the rebound came out to Schuyler Dillon who put the puck behind Rusnak to give the Jr. Flyers a 1 – 0 lead. It was Dillon’s first goal as a junior.

After falling behind, the Jr. Warriors swarmed the Jr. Flyers net, but Dynan had to make some key saves, including one at the buzzer, to secure the 1 – 0 victory.

Rusnak, who was tested and played well, turned aside 35 of 36 shots. Click here for the box score.

The EHL Jr. Flyers will play game two of the EHL Showcase tomorrow at 2:00 PM against the Worcester Railers.
