The Junior Flyers proud to announce that Alumni, Ian Walsh an NHL Officical will be a member of the US Olympic Hockey Program in Sochi!

Ian played for Bud Dombroski and the Jr Flyers Midget team. Ian is still owns the club record for most penalty minutes in a season at 168 minutes, Not bad for a NHL Referee.

Congratulations to Ian Walsh who has been chosen to officiate the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Ice hockey competition begins on Saturday, February 8.

According to Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly, "...Ian Walsh, who was born in Philadelphia, was the only U.S. official picked by the IIHF to work the Sochi Olympics in February."

Pat Hickey reported in the Montreal Gazette, "The other referees selected by the NHL are Mike Leggo, Brad Meier, Tim Peel, Kevin Pollock, Kelly Sutherland and {Dave Jackson}. The NHL has also selected linesmen Derek Amell, Lonnie Cameron, Greg Devorski, Brad Kovachik, Andy McElma and Mark Wheeler. They will be joined in Sochi by seven referees and eight linesmen from Europe."
